On the eve of peaceful liberation, Tibet remained a society of feudal serfdom under theocracy. The senior monks, noble lords and the local government of old Tibet ruled and oppressed people mentally and politically. Colluding with foreign powers, the Tibetan prof-imperialists attempted in vain to separate Tibet from China.
